JD Fay has more than 20 years of experience as a globally-focused senior executive, lawyer, and advisor for venture-backed and public technology companies and is responsible for Matterport’s financial management strategy. He focuses on helping companies grow and raise capital from concept through IPO or company sale, and operating as a public company. He has structured and led IPOs on the NYSE and Nasdaq; capital raises from private financings to secondary offerings and international PIPE offerings raising nearly $3 billion; strategic and growth acquisitions in the US, Europe and Asia; and operated businesses across the globe, including in China, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, North America and Europe.

Prior to Matterport, JD was Chief Financial Officer at View, where he was responsible for managing financial, legal, human resources and other operations matters. He was also the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel of NeoPhotonics, and SVP and General Counsel of @Road, both of which he took public on the NYSE and The Nasdaq, respectively. Earlier in his career, JD worked at Venture Law Group as an attorney representing public and private technology companies and their venture capital and private equity investors in initial public offerings, M&A, and general corporate matters.

In 2016, JD was named a “CFO of the Year” by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and a CFO award winner by CFO Monthly Magazine.

JD holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and undergraduate degrees, summa cum laude, from North Central College.
